Questions Ticket & Prices
Online in the BLS Webshop (Print@Home), at the airport railway stations in Zurich and Geneva, as well as at railway stations and many tourist information centres in the area.
The Berner Oberland Pass can only be purchased for 3, 4, 6, 8 or 10 consecutive days.
Standard Price CHF 30.– for all validities (3, 4, 6, 8 and 10 days). The Junior Card, Children's Co-Travelcard and Swiss Family Card are valid together with a Berner Oberland Pass.
There are no additional costs for excursions to Jungfraujoch/Schilthorn.
The 30 CHF Berner Oberland Pass for children is intended for family use only. Please contact us if you have a request for a group of children.
Yes, the Junior Travelcard, the Children's Co-Travelcard and STS Family Card are valid. For those who do not have such a card, we recommend the purchase of a Berner Oberland Pass Child at CHF 30.
No, the Berner Oberland Pass is a personal ticket and is not transferable.
On mountain railroads, cable cars and post buses, you can buy a reduced ticket directly at the valley station or from the driver on presentation of your Berner Oberland Pass. For all routes offering a 50% discount, you can also buy a half-fare ticket in advance at any manned sales point, in the BLS Webshop or at most ticket machines.
You enjoy free travel from Lauterbrunnen to Mürren. The price for the connecting ticket to the Schilthorn is CHF 42.80 return (reduction of 50%).
The ride up to the Eigergletscher is free of charge.
The special price from the Eigergletscher is CHF 99 per adult. The connecting ticket is available at all Jungfrau Railways stations or online from mid/end of March 24.
With a Half-Fare Card you pay only CHF 75. This connecting ticket is available at all stations or online.
Children aged 6-15 travel free to the Jungfraujoch with the Berner Oberland Pass.
From the Eigergletscher station you pay CHF 75 return. You can buy the ticket online or directly on site.
Tickets for the Grimsel cable cars (Sidelhorn, Tälli, Oberaarbahn, Reichenbachfallbahn, Hospizbahn) can be purchased on site at the ticket machine or online. The children's tariff must be applied when purchasing. Tickets for the Gelmerbahn and Triftbahn must be purchased at the normal price. These railways are no longer included in the Berner Oberland Pass.
Questions discounts & benefits
You can buy the Berner Oberland Pass at a reduced price if you are in possession of one of the following tickets: Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Travel Pass Flex (days must be activated when using), Swiss Half Fare Card, Half-Fare Travelcard or GA Travelcard.
There will still be no discount for senior citizens. Young people (16 - 24.99 years) will now pay the reduced price.
Most trains, cable cars and buses in the “half fare” section grant a 50% discount. These are marked on the area of validity with a dotted line (…..) . On some routes (marked as “B” on the synoptic map) the discount offered is less than 50%.
No, there is no Berner Oberland Pass for adult groups. Please contact us if you have a request of a child or school group for further information.
Such an offer was available several years ago. It is no longer offered at present.
No, there is no discount offered for FIP.
No, there is no discount offered with the Eurail/Interrail Pass.
Yes. You must activate the days on your Swiss Travel Flex Pass where the Berner Oberland Pass is valid at the reduced price. Otherwise, you will have to buy a Berner Oberland Pass at the full price.
No, there is no discount on the Berner Oberland Pass for students. Young people (16 - 24.99 years) will now pay the reduced price.
No. The Berner Oberland Pass cannot be combined with the Half-Fare Travelcard PLUS.
No. The Berner Oberland Pass is only valid on the Grindelwald - First gondola lift. There is no discount on activities.

No, it is necessary to buy a ticket from the relevant airport to Bern or Lucerne.
The Berner Oberland Pass is valid for city travel in Thun and Interlaken but not in the other cities Bern and Lucerne.
Yes, the boats incl. steamboats can be used without restrictions on Lake Thun and Lake Brienz.

No, the Berner Oberland Pass is not valid for the Kandersteg - Goppenstein car transport.
Yes. You can, for example, take a trip to Kleine Scheidegg in the morning and a boat trip on Lake Thun in the afternoon. The Berner Oberland Pass is valid for an unlimited number of trips during the purchased period.
The mountain railroads can be used several times, i.e. unlimited during the period of validity of the purchased Berner Oberland Pass.
All trains in the direction of the Bernese Oberland can be used for free from Bern. It doesn't matter if it is IC, RE, Regio etc..
No, the Berner Oberland Pass is only valid between Bern and Lucerne via Entlebuch (Trubschachen).
No, the Berner Oberland Pass is not valid on the streetcars and buses of the city of Bern.
No. The pass is not valid from the time but from the desired date. You pay for the number of days, not hours.
Yes, but you have to travel via Kandersteg/Goppenstein. Please enter via Goppenstein in the timetable. From Brig to Domodossola any train can be used. No matter whether IC, EC, Regio etc.
No, the Berner Oberland Pass Child is only available together with a Berner Oberland Pass Adult.
No, children up to 5.99 years do not need a ticket. They travel free of charge. Please have your passport/ID with you for a possible confirmation.
No, these trains pass through the Lötschberg Base Tunnel where the Berner Oberland Pass is not valid. The Pass is only valid on the RE trains that travel via the mountain route through Kandersteg/Goppenstein.
The Berner Oberland Pass is valid for free travel between Interlaken and Saanen. From Saanen to Montreux (or/and vice versa), a half-price ticket must be purchased. If you are traveling in 1st class or Prestige class and do not have a 1st class Berner Oberland Pass, you must purchase a class upgrade for the desired route.

General questions
Yes, dogs are allowed to be taken on all forms of public transport. They must be kept on the lead at all times, but a muzzle is not required. The Berner Oberland Pass for dogs costs CHF 30.–.
On many mountain railroads the dog can be carried free of charge (please ask the respective partner), however, on the trains you have to pay half the price. So if you buy a Berner Oberland Pass dog, it can then travel on the entire route network without an additional ticket.
It is possible to take a bicycle onto most trains and boats. Restrictions apply on buses and mountain lifts. Special fares apply. Enquire directly with the company concerned or at any staffed point of sale.
No, there are no supplements in the “free travel” area.
You will 1st class on all boats and most trains.
As a rule, it is not necessary to reserve a seat on trains, buses, boats, mountain trains and cable cars.
It is, however, advisable to reserve a seat when travelling to the Jungfraujoch. Tickets to the Jungfraujoch are limited. The connecting ticket to the Berner Oberland Pass and seat reservations are available online or at all Jungfrau Railway stations.
Many mountain trains and cable cars and some Postbus routes have limited operating times. The currently valid opening times are listed here or directly on the Website from the partner.
Yes, the new season starts on April 1, 2024, from which date the Berner Oberland Pass will be valid all year round.
Children count as children until the age of 15.99. Once you are 16 years old, you are considered an adult.

This is how much time you have to calculate for the chosen excursion. Of course, you can extend the trip as you wish.
Basically, we recommend of course the Berner Oberland Pass. However, if you are only traveling in the Jungfrau Region (Jungfraujoch, Grindelwald), you can also buy only the Jungfrau Travel Pass. Available at the Jungfrau Railways.

Questions Exchange / Refund
In principle, the Berner Oberland Pass cannot be extended. Up to the day before the first day of validity, the issuing office can refund a purchased Berner Oberland Pass and issue a new one.
No, in such cases the Berner Oberland Pass will not be replaced.
Yes, on presentation of a medical certificate to this effect, a refund will be granted for the unused days. Contact the place you bought it from.
A refund will only be issued if the Berner Oberland Pass was unable to be used for compelling reasons like an illness, etc. Bad weather is no reason to issue a refund.
No, in this case there is no refund. We draw attention on the website that the operating hours of the respective railroads must be observed.
No, if damaged, the Berner Oberland Pass will not replaced.
