Hünegg Castle with park – fairytale on Lake Thun
Hünegg Castle in Hilterfingen with its magnificent park has something for everyone:
art & culture, fine dining & history
Hünegg is no ordinary museum. Its features have not changed since 1900.
It's as if the people who lived there at that time could come back at any moment.
The castle was designed by German architect Heino Schmieden and built between 1861 and 1863 for Baron Albert von Parpart in the Historism style, replicating the renaissance castles of the Loire valley. The building was slightly extended in 1900 by the married couple Lemke and Schucker and refurnished, mostly in the art nouveau style. The interior is characterised by carefully selected, expensive materials and abundant furnishings.
You can buy souvenirs in the impressive entrance hall and enjoy home-made creations and the unique panoramic view in the stylish Castle Café with its lovely outside sitting area. You can also hire our well-equipped castle cellar for events of all types.
From the castle terrace you can enjoy gorgeous views of the Alps and Lake Thun. This grand seat lies in a magical park with many ancient trees.
